Kogi Election - Yahaya Bello Sworn In Without A Deputy



Kogi State made history today as Governor Yahaya Bello was sworn in without a deputy.

Alhaji Yahaya Bello was seen at the swearing in ceremony without a deputy.

James Faleke, the deputy nominated by All Progressives Congress (APC) disappointed Bello as he had promised not to present himself for swearing in as deputy in with the governor.

Faleke was absent and no replacement was announced at the swearing in ceremony.

IG ORDERS STRICT MONITORING OF FIREARMS USAGE BY OFFICERS




The Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Mr Solomon Arase, on Wednesday called on senior police officers to monitor strictly the use of firearms and ammunition by officers under them.
The Force Police Public Relations Officer (FPPRO), ACP Olabisi Kolawole, disclosed the I-G’s order in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
Kolawole said the order was sequel to some alleged killings by drunken and trigger-happy policemen in different parts of the country.
He said that Arase expressed sadness over unlawful killings and restated the need for Assistant Inspectors-General, Commissioners and Area Commanders of various commands and units to monitor strictly the usage of firearms.

Buhari didn’t promise to end insurgency in two months – APC


In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by News Agency of Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as misleading and unfounded reports that the President-elect, Maj.-Gen. Mu has pledged to end insurgency in the country within two months.

“The President-Elect is still waiting to be sworn in on May 29. After the ceremony, he would need time to study the security situation and plan strategically with the security chiefs as to the way forward.

“Time is of essence here. Therefore, President Buhari didn’t and wouldn’t peg the decimation of terrorism within two months.
