Swiss banks now require proof of earned money before accepting deposits from Nigerians


The age of money laundering in Nigeria might be coming to an end with the emergence of Gen. Buhari as Nigeria’s President-elect and the support of the Swiss government.

The Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Hans-Rudolf Hodel, said depositors will have to prove they earned any money they intend to deposit in any Swiss bank accounts.

Hodel stated this during an interaction with newsmen after paying a courtesy visit to the Nigerian President-elect, retired Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, in Abuja on Monday.

Buhari didn’t promise to end insurgency in two months – APC


In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by News Agency of Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as misleading and unfounded reports that the President-elect, Maj.-Gen. Mu has pledged to end insurgency in the country within two months.

“The President-Elect is still waiting to be sworn in on May 29. After the ceremony, he would need time to study the security situation and plan strategically with the security chiefs as to the way forward.

“Time is of essence here. Therefore, President Buhari didn’t and wouldn’t peg the decimation of terrorism within two months.

Boko haram will be crushed within two months - Nigeria’s president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari


Muhammadu Buhari has promised to eliminate the Boko Haram insurgent group in north-east Nigeria within two months of his assuming office.


He said the Federal Government made some mistakes in its fight against Boko Haram and his administration will addressed those issues.

  “we know how they started and where they are now and we will rapidly give attention to security in the country. And I believe we will ef­fectively deal with them in two months when we get into office.”


“We will be needing the cooperation of neighboring countries such as Cam­eroon, Chad and Niger. There were efforts made by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration, but it was not good enough and it came rather late,”
