FIRM DRAGS PDP TO COURT OVER JONATHAN CAMPAIGN’S N360M DEBT

‎An Abuja-based firm, Twinkle Nigeria Limited, has dragged the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and some of the party’s 2015 presidential campaign committee members before a Federal High Court in Maitama Abuja over alleged failure to pay a N350m debt it accrued as a result of business transaction.

Femi Falana, counsel to the firm alleged that its services were engaged by the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation to “beautify and decorate” the campaign venues used by former President, Goodluck Jonathan as PDP presidential candidate during the 2015 electioneering period.

Those sued alongside the party include, Senator Ahmadu Ali, who acted as the Director General, PDP’s Presidential Campaign Organisation, former Information Minister, Prof. Jerry Gana, who acted as the Director, Contact and Mobilisation, and ex-Finance Minister, Senator Nenadi Usman, who served as Director of Finance.

Accusing PDP of refusing to pay the contract sum of N360m mutually agreed on, a director of the firm Agarawu Tunde, in a supporting affidavit alleged that Twinkle Nigeria Limited had on January 7, 2015 submitted a proposal for the branding and beautification of the party’s presidential campaign venues cross the country to the party’s presidential campaign organisation at the cost of N15m per state.

The affidavit reads, “The third defendant, Gana, approved the plaintiff’s proposal for the sum of N10m per state and directed the Assistant Director, Venue, to include same in the budget. The plaintiff states categorically that it was not paid for the services it rendered to the defendants.”

The court has, however, fixed 11 February for hearing on the case.

$2.1BN ARMS DEAL SCANDAL: WHY WE HAVE NOT ARRESTED JONATHAN – EFCC

Acting Chairman of EFCC Ibrahim Magu says the agency is yet to arrest former President Goodluck Jonathan because no document has been traced to Jonathan giving any approval for the disbursement of the money for any purpose other than arms purchase.

Speaking at a meeting he had with online publishers in Lagos yesterday January 11th, Magu said all those that have been arrested and questioned in connection with the arms deal scandal were people who disbursed or collected money for reasons other than the purchase of arms and ammunition. “All approvals by former president Jonathan did not mention that it was for political purposes” he said.

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Abdulahi Jalo, has however called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to speak out on the current $2.1 billion arms deal scandal.  Jalo said President Jonathan is still alive and should speak up on whether he authorized the former NSA Sambo Dasuki to disburse the money that was meant for the purchase of arms.
