#China Completes World's Largest Ever Radio Telescope To Look For Aliens


Yesterday, China completed construction of the world’s largest radio telescope in Pingtung County, southwest of China’s Guizhou Province.

The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope, or FAST, took roughly five years to complete and cost $180m; initial plans and location reconnaissance began way back in 1994. Its massive reflector, comprised of 4,450 panels covers the same area as 30 football fields.

Personalize Online Ads With Google's New Portal


Google is giving everyone the power to choose the ads you want to see online

Google has launched a new portal you can use to personalize the ads you see, and it has begun notifying users about it through either Chrome or Gmail. You can add topics of interest and your age and gender to see advertisements the cater to you on Search, YouTube and other Google services. But if you don't want to share those info with the big G, you don't have to -- the feature is completely opt in. If you agree to switch it on, you're also giving the company permission to use your Google account activity on its services. That includes giving it permission to keep track of what ads you interact with and to add that info to its new My Activity site.

NASA Announces New Fully Electric Plane



NASA is developing an electric plane to accelerate the introduction of zero-emission aircraft that use less energy and cruise at higher speeds than the aircraft of today. If successful, the plane could become a significant first step toward a new era of more efficient and environmentally friendly air travel.

Microsoft Acquires Linkedln for $26.2 Billion in Bid to Control Social Media Market



American multinational technology company Microsoft, has acquired business-oriented career and job networking social media networking site LinkedIn to boost shares in the new media economy.

A lot of things will change now with respect to Job networking, online career/professional training and using your Windows PC. Microsoft, a moment ago announced the successful purchase of Linkedln, giving them access to Linkedln, Lydna.com and a ton of professional/career networking brain-power assets. Expect more locked-in platform ecosystem, and perhaps a lot of Hotmail flying around Linkedln however no one knows yet the full scale of this acquisition and if Microsoft will allow the Linkedln team operate without interference.
