Nigerian Music Success Story: 3 Things That Made Wizkid Ojuelegba a Global Hit Track

This thing gat me thanking God for life #234JamBlog is back with a review of the Nigerian music Industry.

The Nigerian Music Industry has provided significant jobs and delivered ample wealth to the Nigerian economy.

We cannot overemphasize the importance of the Nigerian music industry in providing employment, economic and social progress.

To best describe the success of an industry that is thriving amid several infrastructural and copyright issues, I decided to review the story of a super star that rose from grace to grace to producing global hit tracks.

Wizkid.

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, best known as Wizkid, is a young Nigerian Afrobeats, afropop and reggae recording artist, songwriter and performer that has gained local and international recognition for his natural Afrobeat flows.

Wizkid never stop thanking his fans for supporting and promoting his music brand, the superstar calls his fans the real ones.

Wizkid is the real one and his feel-good Ojuelegba street anthem off his 2014 second studio album titled AYO is the real song that has this 1 thing that makes a hit track.

In Wizkid’s voice…

Ni ojuelegba
They know my story
From holdup studio
I be hustle to work eehh

Ni ojuelegba o… a Legendury Beatz production that is taking Wizkid and the Ojuelegba metropolitan area of Lagos Mainland all over the world.

Just like Wyclef Jean sang Rwanda to the world in a million voice, Wizkid is taking Ojuelegba’s suffering to the global music sense again by highlighting his struggles as a young Nigerian living in Ojuelegba trying to do music.

The great Fela Anikola Kuti first presented Ojuelegba’s people plight in a politically themed music.

Ojuelegba by Wizkid re-creates a triumphant feeling of how hard work and resilience pay off in reality, to the people of Ojuelegba the song is not just a legendary beat, it is a prayer and hope for those living in the reality of social, economic and technological poverty and under-development that there is hope for the future.

For many, Ojuelegba by Wizkid will be a prayer and thanksgiving to God for a better living.

I am feeling good tonight
This thing gat me thanking God for life
Oh I can’t explain eh eh eh…

In Ojuelegba, Wizkid advocacated for a better life for his people while thanking God, he mentioned those that were with him during his struggle to stardom, he called CD who hustled with him from Holdup Studio and asks for a prayer for his mum two times in a verse.

3 Things That Made Wizkid’s Ojuelegba a Success

  • It has every atom of reality
  • It advocates for all to pursue their dreams
  • It believe in the divine works of God the creator

Wizkid’s Ojuelegba live in Ghana

Sarkodie – obidi bonbede was the first rapper to relate with Wizkid’s Ojuelegba success story and jumped on Starboy’s Legendury Beatz. Like Wizkid, Sarkodia started doing music at a very young age and hustled amid hardship to succeed.

Ojuelegba wona people dey there
We no get money to pay for common daycare

Wizkid’s Ojuelegba is the most relatable track to a skeptic off the A.Y.O album, it creates a new hope for a better future through hard work. Sarkodie related Wizkid’s Ojuelegba to his hustling days in trade fair when he had no money to take care of his daily needs and there was no one to help him financially.

Skepta takes Wizkid’s Ojuelegba to an international new height with Drake and OVO Sound Radio Making it a Global Hit

Skapta, an english hip hop DJ, MC, Rapper, Producer, and co-founder of Boy Better Know record label who shares Nigerian heritage with Wizkid played ojuelegba for Drake who decided to jump on the track with his verse streamed a remix of ojuelegba with Skapta on Apple’s OVO Music Radio Show on 11 July, 2015.

Drake is a Canadian rapper, singer and songwriter most recording artist would die to work with, he is the most successful rapper to incorporates singing and rapping. His works have earned him six BET Awards, three Juno Awards, a Grammy Award and many Billboard records.

Skepta, Wizkid and Drake’s Ojuelegba success story

The trio may be a team right now, thanks to the Nigerian superstar’s hit single Ojuelegba but their stories are different from Nigeria/UK/Canada. One thing that makes Ojuelegba a track everyone can relate with is the story of hustling to work in a career they believe is right and getting successful in what they believed in.

Wizkid was born in 1990, by 2001 he starting hustling in Nigerian music industry from ojuelegba where he came in contact with most of Nigeria’s hip hop artists of that time and groomed his musical career to become the most successful artist alive in Nigeria that rose from grass to grace.
