Nigeria Today! EFCC Arrests Olisa Metuh, Others In News

EFCC ARRESTS METUH

Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC today arrested the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh.

The operatives, four in number, came in a white unmarked Toyota Hiace bus and whisked Metuh from his Abuja residence.

The EFCC is probing how Metuh received N1.4 billion from the $2.1 billion arms procurement funds allegedly misappropriated by Ex-NSA Colonel Sambo Dasuki (Rtd).

The PDP Spokesperson had earlier stated that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are trying to drag his name to the mud with the allegations of corruption.

“I am going to address these issues today because they are nothing but lies. The allegations are not true. I think it is a media trial and the idea is to ensure that I am stained in such a way that when I am issuing statements on behalf of the party, people will be seeing it differently”.

“The intention is to present us to Nigerians as bourgeoius, the people that squandered Nigeria’s wealth while it is obvious and clear from day one that I have never done government contracts with the federal government”. He said earlier today.

However his indictment comes few weeks after Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain and owner of DAAR Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi was released after spending some days at the Kuje prison in connection with the arms deal funds.
