AMBODE APPOINTS PROFESSOR FAGBOHUN LASU VICE-CHANCELLOR



Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, has approved the appointment of Professor Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun as the 8th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU).

Professor Fagbohun, a Professor of Environmental Law, was until his appointment Director of Research at the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of Lagos.

The appointment was contained in a statement signed on Wednesday by the State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde.

According to the statement, following the expiration of the tenure of Professor John Oladapo Obafunwa as the 7th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University on 31st October, 2015, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Fidelis Olisamedua Njokanma assumed the position of Acting Vice-Chancellor.

NAPTIP QUIZZES DAVIDO OVER ALLEGED BABY ABDUCTION



23-yr-old pop star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, on Wednesday visited the Lagos State office of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), over the ongoing child rift with his baby mama, Mrs. Sophia Momodu.

According to sources at NAPTIP, Davido reportedly arrived at the agency at 11:07am.
It was learnt that his statement on the face-off over the custody of the relationship between him and the estranged mother of his daughter, Sophia, was taken by NAPTIP.

The whole drama started after Sophia who is a cousin of popular journalist, Dele Momodu, wrote a letter of petition against the musician through her lawyer, Mr. Gbolaga Ajayi.

Ajayi while seeking protection for the rights of his client, petitioned the NAPTIP as the case borders on child abduction and trafficking.

Recall that Davido’s father, Dr. Deji Adeleke and Momodu, paid an earlier visit to the NAPTIP office on Monday for a meeting.

However, Dr. Adeleke was said to have stormed out of the meeting barely 30 minutes after it started.

NFF HEAD OF PROTOCOL, IBRAHIM ABUBAKAR SHOT DEAD BY ARMED ROBBERS



Ibrahim Abubakar, head of protocol, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), was on Wednesday shot dead by some suspected armed robbers at his Abuja residence.

Confirming the sad news via its twitter handle, @thenff, the NFF said the Kaduna-born football administrator is being conveyed to his hometown of Kaduna, where he would be buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

“NFF’s Head of Protocol Ibrahim Abubakar was shot dead by armed robbers in his house in Abuja in the early hours of today.”


LAGOS SHUTS OSHODI MARKET OVER INSECURITY



Lagos State Government yesterday shut Owonifari market within the notorious loop of Oshodi, Oshodi/Isolo Local Government, aimed at addressing the security challenges in the axis.

It will be recalled that the State Government often arrest hoodlums in Oshodi to stern the activities of petty thieves who often deprive commuters of their property.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, who disclosed this, lamenting that the market, has constituted a menace and an eyesore within the locality.

Ayorinde noted that the relocated affected traders and shop owners to the newly built Isopakodowo market stalls at Bolade area in Oshodi.
